Exceptional southern storytelling will be alive and well in Historic Riverside Cemetery as this year's Spirits in October offers ticket holders a guided walking tour with representations of spirits of some of Macon’s most fascinating characters.  Stroll through the beautiful 126-year old cemetery grounds in Historic Riverside Cemetery on the only historical tour in central Georgia that offers visitors a glimpse into the past, and  captivating stories featured importantly in Macon’s history in one of Georgia's most exclusive underground clubs.

Historic Riverside Cemetery & Conservancy present Saints and Sinners during its annual Spirits in October tour during the weekends of October 24th-27th and November 1st-3rd, 2024. Spirits in October is a guided tour that puts a human face on history for thousands of visitors who enjoy seeing spirits graveside bring history to life. Walk beneath the night sky amongst old-world crosses and Gothic headstones, where the righteous and the wicked are equal, united by death's quiet impartiality.  Join us this year and learn why every saint has a past, and every sinner has a future.

Tours begin at 6:30 PM and depart from the Gatehouse every 15 minutes. The cemetery asks that guests arrive 15 minutes prior to tour time. Each tour’s final stop will be inside the beautiful Macon Public Mausoleum, with light refreshments.

Spirits in October is not a scary ghost tour. It’s about honoring and sharing the stories of the fascinating people who came before us to make Macon what it is today. The museum shop will have T-shirts, relevant books, gifts and souvenirs. All proceeds benefit the Conservancy’s 501(c)(3).
